It is not possible in few short sentences to do justice to the awesome extent and variety of musical activities that take place within the Guldford Area. There are major music festivals that take place annually in Guildford, Godalming, Woking and Dorking. A large number of well established choirs hold regular concerts throughout the area. Orchestras of various compositions perform challenging works in front of enthusiastic audiences. And opera is well represented as well.

And yet there is much, much more. The live music scene in such public houses as the Boileroom, The Star, The Keystone and the Freeholders (Godalming) is thriving and presents both modern, folk and jazz variations.

And sitting in the background (or should it be 'foreground') of this flourishing field of interest there are the unique contributions of the Academy for Contemporary Music and the Department of Music and Sound Recording at Surrey University.
